Universal Heat Pump Contextualized ESOL Support Resources and Activities
In 2026, MassCEC engaged a consultant to develop career-contextualized English as a Second Language (“ESOL”) instruction support materials tied to the universal heat pump curriculum, referenced further above. These resources and activities are meant to support students who are multilingual learners in developing the technical, verbal and durable skills needed to succeed as entry-level service technicians in the field.
Instructor Training Resources and Material Reference Checklist
Resources for instructors, ESOL coaches and staff to support multilingual learners participating in HVAC and heat pump training programs.
Activities Aligned with Seven Universal Heat Pump Modules
Career contextualized ESOL activities and resources developed for a subset of universal heat pump training modules selected based on training provider feedback that topics are more challenging for multilingual learners. Activities provide students with an opportunity to practice and build occupationally focused language skills through more extensive group work and role-plays
