There are many reasons for business owners to install chargers, but attracting employees and customers or tenants is one of the main perks. Expressing your interest in EV chargers may push business owners to explore adding them.

I am a business owner, but I rent my space. Can I still install chargers?

Most likely! Massachusetts has a “Right to Charge” law that prevents governing bodies from banning or restricting the installation of EV chargers. Tenants are legally allowed to request the installation of EV chargers and your property owner is required to reasonably accommodate your request. It isn’t a guarantee that you’ll be able to install chargers, but property managers are becoming more open to these requests as the demand for EV charging grows.

If you rent your space, another option is mobile charging, which is designed to provide semi-permanent charging to help fleet owners electrify without making immediate large-scale infrastructure investments.
