Report My Production

All renewable energy systems in the Commonwealth are welcome to report data to the Production Tracking System (PTS), free of charge, but certain renewable energy incentive programs require that production be reported to PTS in order to be eligible to receive the program’s incentives. MassCEC has been designated by the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources (DOER) as the Independent Third Party Meter Reader for the purpose of providing verification of Solar Renewable Energy Certificates (SRECs) for qualified generators. Therefore, if you’ve been approved by DOER to participate in the Solar Renewable Energy Certificates (SRECs) program, you must report your system’s production to PTS in order to receive incentives through that program. Also, if you choose to sell your Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) for any renewable energy system, you may be required by your contract agreement with your REC owner to report production data to PTS.

Reporting Requirements

All production data must be reported through the PTS website. Production data must be reported during a period starting five days before the end of the month to five days after the beginning of the next month (example: January 27th – February 5th). In the event that you are not able to enter production data in the PTS during the reporting period, please wait until the next reporting period and proceed as usual. The PTS will automatically calculate estimated production over the months with missing data. If you have made an attempt to report SREC eligible production and were unsuccessful, or if you are experiencing equipment issues that are preventing you from reporting to the PTS, please contact PTS@masscec.com. MassCEC reserves the right to conduct on-site audits of any system, for any reason or for no reason, to verify the accuracy of the data. Deviations between the data and observed audited production figures may be investigated, and MassCEC reserves the right to adjust or reconcile the data in accordance with the results of any audit or investigation. Find out more about What's Behind Your SREC.

Automated Reporting

System owners with solar photovoltaic systems less than or equal to 10 kW (DC capacity) have the option to (1) report their production to PTS manually using the process outlined above, or (2) contract with a MassCEC-approved data acquisition system (DAS) service provider to report on their behalf. System owners with solar Photovoltaics (PV) systems that are greater than 10 kW (DC capacity) are required to contract with a MassCEC-approved data acquisition system (DAS) service provider to report on their behalf.

Manual Reporting

Once your system has been registered in PTS you will receive automated emails each month to remind you to report. Please check your spam filters settings to make sure it does not filter out automated messages coming from PTS@masscec-pts.com.

Step 1: Login to the PTS Go to the PTS login page and enter your account username and password. On the Welcome Page, select Enter Production Data in the top Menu Bar. To navigate through the PTS, use the "Next" and "Previous" buttons (when available), the links at the top of the page, or the links on the right side of the page.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Do not use the “Back” button on your internet browser when in the PTS database!

Step 2: Select System If you have logged in during a production data-entry period with a valid Production Reporter user name and password, a list of systems for which you are the designated production reporter will appear. Production Reporters with only one system to report will have only one choice on the list. However, if you do have multiple systems, the list will indicate which systems have already received monthly data, and those which have not. Click on “Select” for the system requiring data entry.

Step 3: Enter Monthly Meter Reading Enter the meter reading, in kilowatt hours (kWh), taken from the revenue grade production meter that was installed with the system (this meter is usually located next to the inverter). Also, enter the date and time that the reading was taken. Monthly production will be automatically calculated based on this reading and the previous monthly reading. For reference, meter reading history and monthly production for the previous three reporting periods is supplied on the screen. Scroll down and click on the “Next” button. Please note that production is entered into PTS as soon as you click the “Next” button. After you click “Next”, you will not be able to go back and change your entry.

Step 4: Enter Operational Experience If applicable, enter the total cost for maintenance, repairs, and service. If there are no service costs or outages to report, just click “Next” at the bottom of the screen.

Step 5: Click Save Once you click “Next” on the bottom right hand side of the screen, you will see a “Save” button. Click “Save” and this will complete the reporting process for one month.
