Job intro

SYSO Technologies is seeking a Software Engineer to join our growing team as we scale our real-time energy management platform. This role is designed for an engineer who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment and is looking to take ownership of critical data pipelines and market integrations. While we are looking for a "full-stack" capable engineer, your first 6–12 months will focus heavily on back-end systems, data ingestion, and infrastructure. You will help bridge the gap between our Network Operations Center (NOC) and our data platform, ensuring our systems remain robust as we scale to new markets.

About SYSO Inc.

At SYSO, we manage the real-time energy market operations and monitoring of renewables and battery storage assets. Our Network Operations Center works 24/7 to execute day-to-day asset operations, respond to grid and system events, and optimize performance through centralized control systems. The team develops operating strategies, manages telemetry and voice communication with grid operators and partners, and coordinates with stakeholders to ensure consistent and reliable performance. We foster a culture of trust and collaboration where employees are encouraged to grow and thrive.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Data & Market Integration: Design and implement ETL pipelines and automation for existing processes against Market APIs
  • System Reliability: Balance the need for rapid feature delivery with the robustness required to support a NERC CIP compliant 24/7 Operations Center.
  • Infrastructure Evolution: Maintain and suggest improvements for our AWS Serverless architecture and infrastructure-as-code deployments.
  • Financial Systems: Support the development of financial settlement tools and reporting.
  • Internal Tooling: Improve the day-to-day experience for internal teams by refining dashboards and internal tools.
  • Full-Stack Support: While primarily back-end focused initially, you will support changes to our front-end UI as needed.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: 2–5 years of professional software engineering experience. We are looking for candidates who feel comfortable operating with some autonomy.
  • Tech Stack: Proficiency in Python (specifically FastAPI and Pydantic).
  • Cloud Infrastructure: Hands-on experience with AWS, particularly serverless architectures
  • DevOps: Experience with DockerTerraform, or equivalent infrastructure-as-code frameworks.
  • Ownership: An end to end mindset—comfortable with all phases of the project lifecycle (scoping, design, implementation, and support)

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Back-End: Familiarity with FastAPI, Pydantic and AWS design patterns
  • Data Engineering: Experience with Data Lake structuring and large-scale data ingestion
  • Salesforce/Java: Experience with or a strong interest in learning Salesforce development
  • Front-End: Experience with React or similar modern web frameworks
  • Domain Knowledge: While software engineering expertise is priority #1, experience in the energy industry or financial services is a significant plus
  • Startup Mentality: Comfortable with ambiguity and the ability to suggest alternative technical approaches when existing systems hit a wall.

Why SYSO?

  • Join a mission-driven company dedicated to renewable energy.
  • Work in a hybrid environment with an office in Boston.
  • Opportunity to influence the architectural direction of a scaling Series B startup.
Benefits
  • Comprehensive medical, dental and vision coverage
  • 401k
  • Unlimited paid-time off
