About the Role:

SYSO Technologies is seeking a Real-Time Operations Supervisor to join our Network Operations Center (NOC) in Boston, MA. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day real-time operations, ensuring the reliable real-time management of SYSO’s renewable energy assets, and guiding a team of operators to deliver operational excellence.

The Supervisor will serve the immediate point of escalation for technical or operational issues while also guiding operators, enforcing best practices, and supporting process improvements. This role is ideal for someone with strong operational experience who is ready to step into a leadership position while remaining closely engaged in day-to-day activities.

The Supervisor is not part of the 24/7/365 rotating operator shift schedule but may occasionally be required to respond outside of normal business hours to assist with critical events, staffing gaps, or urgent operational needs.

Real-Time Operations Supervisor Overview

As a Real-Time Operations Supervisor, you will actively participate in the operation of SYSO’s renewable energy portfolio while providing direct oversight, coaching, and support to the operator team. You will ensure adherence to operational protocols, manage escalations in real-time, promote a culture of operational excellence, and support the professional growth of the NOC staff.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Oversight
    • Supervise day-to-day NOC activities to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations.
    • Serve as the first point of escalation for operators facing technical or client-facing issues.
    • Act as the operational decision-maker during real-time events, escalating to the NOC Manager or other parties as appropriate.
    • Monitor operator performance and provide coaching, mentoring, and formal feedback.
    • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
    • Conduct regular 1:1s and contribute input to performance evaluations
  • Operational Excellence
    • Ensure execution of established asset operating strategies across wholesale market participation, ancillary services, and incentive programs.
    • Ensure compliance with internal processes, regulatory standards, and security protocols.
    • Review and validate operator actions during key events, outages, and maintenance activities.
    • Provide guidance during complex or high-impact real-time events.
    • Own shift-level execution quality, including alert response, handoff quality, and operational documentation completeness.
  • Communication & Coordination
    • Manage real-time communication with grid operators, asset managers, and clients during operational events.
    • Coordinate across internal teams (Energy Markets, Client Services, Engineering) for issue resolution and operational support.
    • Represent the NOC in cross-functional meetings and provide operational status updates to senior leadership.
  • Process & Continuous Improvement
    • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reliability, and operator readiness.
    • Lead readiness tests and market event preparation exercises.
    • Identify training gaps or procedural weaknesses and escalate recommendations to the NOC Manager.
    • Support the onboarding of new assets, including training operators on updated systems and procedures.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications/Skills/Education

  • BA/BS in a technical field or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years in a process-oriented, mission-critical operations environment (control room, grid operations, or similar).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, resolve escalations, and make critical decisions under pressure.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills, with the ability to guide others through technical challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Highly disciplined, organized, and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to respond flexibly to off-hours needs in support of a 24/7/365 operation.

Desired Qualifications/Skills/Education

  • Experience in the electrical power industry, including transmission and distribution, distributed energy resources, or energy management.
  • Prior supervisory or team lead experience in a 24/7 operations environment.
  • Familiarity with NERC CIP security standards.
  • Expertise in process improvement methodologies.
