Summary: The site supervisor is a combination of a skilled carpenter and a volunteer crew leader. They are responsible for direct on-site supervision of all GSHFH’s building projects (new construction and rehabilitation projects). Responsibilities include working with staff members to plan build days, schedule volunteers, lead & teach volunteers and students, assisting in stocking and maintaining jobsites, inventory control, and maintenance of tools, equipment, and vehicles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Train and guide volunteers in all aspects of residential house construction and repair work
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Pick up material orders, deliver supplies, and prep build sites
- Review the Affiliate Safety plan and ensure that all policies and procedures are implemented to maintain a safe volunteer environment, complete HFHI mandated safety trainings
- Ability to safely use and teach others to use power tools, ladders, scaffolding, etc.
- Approachable demeanor that welcomes and engages with volunteers, students, donors, and others
- Willingness to integrate green building, energy efficiency practices, and innovative technology into projects
- Attend ceremonies for construction projects, including ground breakings, wall-raisings, dedications, volunteer appreciation, and fundraising events
- Respect for GSHFH property, tools, and materials, reporting losses or damages to management
- Capable of working under tight deadlines within budget

Skills and Qualifications:
- Driver’s License - required
- Clean driving record - required
- Ability to lift at least 50lbs
- MA CSL – beneficial but not required
- OSHA 10 or 30 certified, or willing to obtain certification
- First Aid/CPR certified, or willing to obtain certification
- Willing to complete a CORI/SORI screening
- Effective interpersonal communication skills, comfortable with a variety of people, personalities, ages, and backgrounds
- Ability to use technology to support construction work, such as MS Office Suite – Word/Excel/Outlook, Internet, phone, etc…
- Ability to work on individual assignments and as part of a team
- Ability to work a Tuesday – Saturday schedule in all weather conditions
Patience to teach the most unskilled volunteer and confidence to turn away the most stubborn contractor
