Safety at the Edge of Clean Energy: Offshore Wind Tour & Technical Program

Wind Technology Testing Center (WTTC), 100 Terminal Street Building 80, Charlestown, MA 02129
4:00 PM - 6:00 PM

Ready to go behind the scenes of offshore wind? MassCEC is partnering with ASSP Greater Boston Chapter to host a tour of our Wind Technology Testing Center (WTTC). Come learn about offshore wind testing, safety, and innovation. The day includes:
  • An exclusive WTTC Tour led by Rahul Yarala, Executive Director of the WTTC. This behind-the-scenes look showcases how 90-meter turbine blades are tested under ISO/IEC 17025 protocols, why reliability matters for offshore safety, and how WTTC innovations are shaping global clean energy.
  • A presentation on offshore wind safety by Tom Cassidy. With more than 18 offshore wind projects under his belt worldwide, Tom will unpack the unique hazards of marine operations, heavy lifts, turbine installation, subsea cabling, and work at height. He will also discuss the Wind Turbine Safety Rules (WTSR) and share case studies from U.S. and international offshore projects.
This program provides a rare opportunity to see cutting-edge renewable energy in action, while gaining practical insights from two leaders at the forefront of offshore wind technology and safety.

Afterwards, join us for a networking social at the Monument Restaurant & Tavern in Charlestown for food, drinks, and conversations that connect safety, energy, and community.
