The Challenge: Accelerate the Adoption of Residential Electrification Measures

The process of planning for and completing electrification projects in small residential buildings can be daunting for homeowners and rental property owners. New service models that accelerate the adoption of heat pumps and other electrification measures, including by moderate-income households, are needed to help the state reach its 2050 greenhouse gas emissions reduction goals.

About the Northampton-Easthampton Electrification Campaign

The Northampton-Easthampton Electrification Campaign supports the decarbonization of small residential buildings (1-4 units) in Northampton and Easthampton, whether owned by moderate-income residents or by rental property owners (with tenants of any income level). Participants may be eligible for:

  • Assistance coordinating the implementation of weatherization, heat pumps, and other electrification measures
  • Enhanced air sealing
  • Rebates for installing heat pumps

MassCEC is coordinating with service provider Revise, staff from Northampton and Easthampton, Mass Save’s Community First Partnership team, and the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources on this campaign.

Funding for the campaign comes from Eversource, as part of the company’s settlement to buy Columbia Gas.
