Job Duties/Responsibilities

Our R & D Chemical Engineer will:

· Originate new ideas to support the R&D innovation and technology strategy through process design, development of laboratory test methods, material testing, and technical report preparation

  • Perform troubleshooting on new products/processes as related to design, material, or process
  • Prepare for and lead pilot plant campaigns with R&D team including preliminary reviews, data interpretation, and final reporting
  • Provide leadership and direction to technicians/operators operating pilot units and support other researchers in advancing their projects. Foster a positive, safe work environment through open communication and an atmosphere of teamwork
  • Develop computer models and simulations to better inform unit operations and process design
  • Perform techno-economic assessments for industrial applications to assess feasibility and value of new concepts and technologies and to inform R&D targets, company objectives and achieve key results
  • Coordinate and support proposal development to secure funding for R&D projects
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies and procedures, maintain a clean and orderly environment

Qualifications

What Should You Bring to the Table…

  • Degree in either Chemical Engineering, polymer science engineering, mechanical engineering, bio-engineering, or chemistry background with relevant process engineering experience.
  • 1 - 5 years full-time working experience in research, design, or technology development work, (with chemical, petrochemical, or polymers processing helpful!)
  • Experience in operating electrical and nonelectrical laboratory equipment and chemical reactors
  • Ability to size and procure bench-top and pilot equipment and develop preliminary sizing/scoping for industrial scale unit operations
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, goal-oriented and strong self-motivation, capable of solving complex problems, and innovation capability
  • Strong Working knowledge of MS Office (with focus on excel and data analysis techniques), process simulation tools such as Aspen+, and programming platforms for data analysis such as MatLab a plus
  • Commitment to integrity, excellence, and the highest standards of ethics

Salary: $75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
