OVERVIEW

Sunwealth is a clean energy investment firm on a mission to change who benefits from renewable energy by changing the way we invest in it. We envision a future where renewable energy is accessible, affordable, and inclusive. We invest in that future by financing and managing renewable energy projects that benefit diverse communities through clean power, carbon reduction, cost savings and job creation. Sunwealth has offices in Cambridge’s Porter Square and New York City’s financial district and is looking for a summer intern based in our Cambridge office.

The Project Development (PD) Summer Intern will receive exposure to solar project design and feasibility, customer outreach and sales, financial underwriting, and database organization and management amongst many other responsibilities of the PD team. The intern will support the PD team by leading phone and email-based outreach to potential solar project hosts, notably affordable housing in Massachusetts, helping organize and populate solar project specific data into one or more of Sunwealth’s systems, and underwriting financials of potential customers. In addition, Sunwealth will work with the selected candidate to craft a unique and specific project tailored to that person’s personal and professional interests.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Development + Customer Outreach (33%)

  • Develop and execute outreach campaigns to Massachusetts affordable housing hosts for potential solar project opportunities, including phone, email and other means as applicable
  • Maintain a database of potential solar opportunities and coordinate closely with Sunwealth’s project development team on handover of select projects

Market and Policy Research (33%)

  • Support new market research and development opportunities, including emerging solar markets, energy storage and low-income community solar
  • Run financial models for emerging markets to identify new opportunities and support strategy development
  • Contribute to improving internal systems and processes

Project Development Support (34%)

  • Research and centralize information on existing solar projects
  • Perform financial analysis and underwriting for future solar projects
  • Data entry
  • Other tasks to be determined based on the interests of the selected candidate

 

DESIRED TRAITS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Interest in solar project acquisition, finance, development, and management
  • Proficiency with all MS Office programs, particularly Excel; Salesforce experience is a plus
  • Strong internal and external communication skills and an ability to manage multiple issues, clearly articulating concerns, solutions, and outcomes
  • Team player who recognizes learning opportunities and can flex to fill different roles in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
  • Quick learner with strong quantitative and qualitative problem-solving skills
