Speak for the Trees, Boston, is a nonprofit focused on the size and health of the urban tree canopy in Boston. We currently work at the community level by engaging people in appreciating and advocating for their neighborhood trees. We do this through plantings, stewardship, and education. Our aim is to build and empower a network of residents to value and protect their local urban forest. SFTT is a small organization comprising of 9 staff.

Some examples of past internship projects include:
- Developing marketing and outreach material such as social media, newsletters, and blog posts
- Assisting in the development of research and advocacy campaigns both locally and state-wide focused on issues of urban forestry and tree equity.
- Assisting staff in the development of programs, curriculum, and other projects.
- Managing paperwork, meetings, and databases used by staff.
Potential responsibilities include:
- Social media / outreach, including:
- updating website
- creating a social media calendar
- populating our different social media channels
- Supporting community outreach work by coordinating, attending, and taking notes at meetings
- Assisting in translation (esp. in Spanish) are a big plus!
- Additional projects are possible, depending on the intern's interest and availability.
- Managing the office through regular inventorying, check in with staff, and database management.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Weekly in-person meetings with staff to provide regular updates.
- Flexibility: The team is small and committed to our mission. We are new to this and wear many hats, often learning and creating on the fly. We are seeking an intern to do the same.
- The intern should feel comfortable working independently for the duration of the internship. We are looking for a go-getter!
- Strong people skills are preferred.
- Hours are flexible, with expectation that some community events are held on weekends on a semi-regular basis.
- Basic skills in GoogleDocs.
- Knowing Canva and CRMs a plus
- Fluency in a common non-English language spoken in Boston a big plus!

- Financial compensation of $18 / hour, 15-20 hours / week from early September through mid December
