Kim Lundgren Associates, Inc. (KLA) is seeking an organized and driven Climate Analysis Intern for Summer 2024. The intern will work on a mix of client projects focused on climate action planning and contributing to the development of streamlined replicable analyses for all communities nationwide. The internship is an opportunity to work with an established start-up in the sustainability/climate change/clean energy space on a range of tasks that could include conducting climate mitigation and/or resilience related analyses, collecting, and analyzing data for indicators of sustainability, completing research, and supporting climate action planning processes. The internship is 100% remote.

Responsibilities

This position will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Collect and review datasets and reports for incorporation into a climate change action inventory
  • Support the analysis of GHG data and develop related metrics
  • Support the development of climate change methodology reports
  • Conduct research on high-impact climate and resilience actions
  • Research best practices in sustainability/climate action planning around the country (e.g., creating a database of goals and actions that other cities and towns are pursuing)
  • Create user friendly data visualizations to represent climate change data

Qualifications

  • Must be a junior or senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree; Graduate students preferred
  • Entrepreneurial spirit – must be comfortable in a startup environment
  • Must have strong analytical skills, experience with greenhouse gas accounting is a plus!
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to organize data and research into user-friendly formats
  • Comfortable working independently, as well as working in a collaborative, team environment
  • Eager to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, including strong working knowledge of Excel
  • Experience with GIS, R, and other data wrangling and visualization tools is a plus.

Details

  • Requires at least 30 hours per week for 12 weeks between June and August.
  • Pays $20/hour.
  • Fully remote role.
