Position Overview: We are seeking a motivated and proactive Business Development Intern to join our team. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a start-up like environment within the renewable energy sector.

The selected candidate will get to experience different facets of the business as they work closely with our teams to gain an understanding of the daily operations of a solar, wind and storage developer. Please note that while interfacing with different teams, this position may be asked to jump into other team’s tasks on an ad-hoc basis.

Duration: 2 months

Hours: Full-time, 40hrs/week

Location: Boston, MA

 

Expectations/Key Responsibilities:

  • Development of materials, presentations and other marketing and business communications (Internal and external);
  • Help manage content related to Greenvolt Power, namely the presence on relevant social media platforms;
  • Interface with international teams and collaborate on the creation/approval of external materials;
  • Support the management of other teams within the Boston office in the identification, development, and organization of documentation;
  • Assist with the planning of internal, national, and project-based events;
  • Use various applications to assemble, manipulate and/or format data and reports;
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Finance, and Legal, to ensure alignment and support for business development initiatives;
  • Provide administrative support for ongoing projects, including research, data analysis, document management, and coordination of project activities;
  • Assist in generating leads and prospecting new business opportunities through various channels, including online research, networking events, and industry conferences.
  • Take advantage of learning opportunities to deepen understanding of renewable energy technologies, project financing models, and regulatory frameworks.

Potential Areas for Collaboration:

  • Finance: Overview of project-related budgeting and forecasting as well as accounting for daily operations.
  • Engineering: Exposure to project design software (AutoCAD, ArcGIS, etc.), federal and state-specific permitting and regulatory processes, and environmental & site assessment procedures.
  • Legal: Understand the complexities of clean energy legislation and best practices related to the drafting of legal documents.
  • Commercial: Navigate the ever-changing landscape of renewable energy markets and power purchase prices.
  • Communications: Help coordinate activities and develop materials surrounding local community engagement in different states where we have projects.
  • Project Management: Understand how to develop a holistic schedule that covers all the design, construction and operational milestones of the project development process.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Communications, Business Administration, Marketing, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering or related field.
  • Strong analytical skills with an attention to detail and the ability to gather, analyze, and interpret data from various sources.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external parties.
  • Proactive self-starter with a strong sense of initiative and ability to work independently.
  • Passion for renewable energy and sustainability, with a desire to make a positive impact on the environment and society.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 platforms such as Microsoft Teams and Outlook is a plus.
