Want to see how wind turbines are tested?

At the Wind Technology Testing Center (WTTC) in Charlestown, Massachusetts, massive wind turbine blades are put through intense structural testing before they are used to generate clean energy.

Now you have the opportunity to see our work up close. WTTC is opening its doors for group tours, offering a rare behind-the-scenes look at the scale and science behind wind turbines, and the role WTTC plays in advancing wind energy in Massachusetts and around the world.

What To Expect During Your Wind Blade Testing Tour

During this 45–60-minute tour, you will:

  • See large-scale wind turbine blades up close and learn how blades are tested to ensure safety and performance
  • Get an inside look at the testing process and equipment used at WTTC
  • Understand how this work supports wind development

Tours can be tailored to your group’s interests, knowledge, and experience level. A member of our team will work with you in advance to understand your goals and adjust the tour content and focus accordingly. Tours are typically offered on working days between 10-2.

Who Can Visit The Offshore Wind Blade Testing Lab

Tours are available for organized groups only, including:

  • K–12 schools, colleges, universities, and workforce or training programs
  • Companies, industry groups, and professional organizations
  • Non-governmental organizations, community organizations, and other educational groups
  • Government agencies and public-sector teams

At this time, individual or walk-in visits are not available. Other organized groups may be considered upon request. All visitors must sign a Facility Tour Confidentiality and Release of Liability Agreement.
