Highland Park Technologies is a Boston based research and development company focusing on solutions to residential energy efficiency. Our current project is a collaboration with Oak Ridge National Labs to validate a new approach to exterior cladding and insulation retrofits of existing wood frame buildings. Our focus is automating what is currently a labor intensive process as much as possible. This full-time position is for a designer/fabricator to assist with prototyping and development of a high-performance facade panel system.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

This full-time position is for a designer/fabricator to assist with prototyping and development of a high-performance facade panel system.  Assistant will work closely with the lead fabricator/project manager to generate 3D models/drawings, design and fabricate prototypes, and build/install on-site 1:1 mockups. Successful applicants can think critically about assemblies and fabrication workflows and iterate quickly and creatively.  Background in architecture , building trades, or industrial design with 3-5 years of experience in fabrication/construction is required.  Should be comfortable working and being in a shop environment.

 

Qualifications

Skills:

Prior fabrication and shop experience (woodshop, metals, composites)

Building and installation experience

Rapid Prototyping / Model Making (3D printing, laser cutting)

Critical thinking and design iteration

Ability to produce 3D models and physical prototypes from drawings

Communication of technical and design information
