Manatee Energy is looking for a motivated and hands-on Service Technician Intern for our Fall 2026 session. This role is essential to our upcoming high-volume installation season, where we aim to complete over 50 installations between August and October.
- Duration: August 31, 2026 - December 11, 2026
- Hourly Wage: $18.00 per hour
- Full-Time or Part-Time (Minimum 8 week)
Job Duties/Responsibilities
As a Service Technician Intern, you will work closely with our field and design teams to ensure high-quality clean energy installations and a seamless customer experience.
- System Installations: Assist contractors with the on-site physical installation of heat pump systems, ensuring all components are set up according to technical specifications.
- Site Walkthroughs: Support the team during customer site assessments. You will help evaluate home basements and exteriors to gather data for system placement and quoting.
- System Design & Quoting: Utilize the Manatee platform to assist in creating system designs and accurate project quotes based on data gathered during walkthroughs.
- Project Preparation: Support procurement and prep efforts, including organizing equipment and documentation to ensure the contracting team can kick off jobs independently.
- Service & Maintenance: Demonstrate a willingness to learn and adapt, and tackle service requests such as condensate leaks, communication wiring errors, or any other minor issues.
- Customer Service: Provide exceptional service by maintaining professional communication with homeowners, answering basic questions, and ensuring a positive experience throughout the installation or service visit.
Qualifications
- Hands-on Capability: You must be comfortable with physical work and using basic tools.
- Transportation: A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle are required for travel between job sites.
- Technical Background: A background in Engineering, a related technical field, or the trades is strongly preferred.
- Communication: Comfortable interacting with homeowners during site walkthroughs and kickoffs.
This position is funded through the MassCEC Clean Energy Internship Program. To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a student at a college/university in Massachusetts, OR a Massachusetts resident attending school elsewhere.
- Have completed at least 24 credits (freshman year) for a 4-year program, or 12 credits for a community college program.
- Graduate students are eligible if they are currently enrolled or graduated within the last year.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
