Job intro

AshGen strives to turn one of the energy industry's largest waste liabilities into a domestic supply chain opportunity.

Coal fly ash, a byproduct of coal combustion from power plants, currently sits in waste ponds and landfills as an expensive and environmental headache for utilities. However, this ash is rich in critical metals and is packed with aluminosilicates ideal for zeolites.

AshGen is building a proprietary extraction and upcycling process to unlock these critical minerals and convert the remaining waste into commercially viable, low-carbon zeolite products. AshGen is engineering the ultimate 'trash to treasure' story by providing a permanent solution to coal ash waste while building a circular economy.

Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • Design and execute experiments generating reliable, actionable data for critical mineral extraction unit operations
  • Participate in technical strategy meetings, providing input on the technical direction of the company drawing on conclusions from laboratory results
  • Document observations, organize data sets, and assist in detailed analysis
  • Support the team with ad-hoc technical research and "all hands-on deck" tasks common in an early-stage venture
  • Follow all lab protocols and participate in maintaining proper lab environment
Qualifications
  • BS, MS, or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or other related field
  • 2+ years of experience in a lab setting, including both running and designing experiments
  • Previous internship or full-time experience, preferably in the critical minerals or hydrometallurgy space
