LineVision is an innovative smart grid company with advanced sensors and analytics that give electric utilities more reliability, capacity, flexibility, and resiliency for their transmission lines. Renewable energy is being deployed rapidly across the US but there are significant challenges incorporating this green energy onto the transmission grid. Specifically, congestion on the grid prevents green energy from reaching utility customers. If green energy cannot get on the grid, the promise of renewable energy fails.

We are looking for a smart problem-solver who will use multiple data sets to develop a clear financial model that demonstrates the impact of congestion on the grid and demonstrates the benefits to relieving that congestion. 
Your work will have a direct impact on how LineVision understands congestion in order to deliver better models to customers that will allow them to address congestion and meet their carbon reduction goals. 

 

Job Duties/Responsibilities: 

What will your time with LineVision look like?
Within a Month:

  • Learning how our products work, and about transmission line monitoring technologies in general.
  • Understanding the problem of grid congestion and its impact on renewable energy across markets in the US.
  • Identifying the data sets required to pull together a comprehensive view of the financial impacts of congestion. 

 
Within Two Months:

  • Detail energy market analysis determining interconnection constraints
  • Determine the the most congested lines in the US 
  • Advance opportunity with renewable developers and LineVision
  • Interconnection Process Study and Presentation

 
Commitment:
 
You will work with the LineVision team to address a major challenge facing the electric grid in the US. Your work will have a direct impact on how LineVision, our stakeholders, and our customers understand congestion and how they work to solve it so more renewable energy can reach the grid. 
As this is a critical project, it will take dedication, but we are flexible and open to working with your schedule. We anticipate a 20-hour/week commitment for 2-3 months, but can work out the specifics with you. 
 
 

Qualifications: 

 
Some qualifications/experience we are looking for:
 

  • Pursuing a degree or a recent graduate in Data Science, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, or similar.
  • High level of interest in energy markets.
  • Ability to work and think independently and manage a project to successful completion.
  • Desire to participate in team events including, but not limited to: kayaking & coffee tastings.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment knowing you have the ability to have a significant impact on a global challenge.
