Title: Product Manager/Product Owner

Position Overview: Solar energy is finally cheap enough to reduce electricity bills nationwide and the majority of Americans support an increased use of renewable energy. Yet most of us can’t put solar panels on our roof because we rent our homes, possess a non-optimal roof, or can’t afford the steep upfront cost. Solstice solves this problem by making it incredibly easy for everyday Americans to sign up and save money with free, community-shared solar energy.

Our digital platform is a CRM solution for the community solar industry that enables households to easily enroll in a local community solar garden and project owners to monitor and track relevant project metrics, facilitating more rapid deployment of community solar assets. In this cross-functional role, you’ll work with internal and external clients, including households, project owners, and our sales/marketing/business development/inclusion departments, to develop a keen understanding of their needs and inform the strategy and development of our product roadmap. This position reports to the COO.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

Responsibilities will include:

  • Identify and push forward business development opportunities for our software platform across the community solar industry and the broader customer engagement software industry
  • Set SMART goals and key metrics, track progress, and adjust course as needed
  • Drive the design, coordination, and implementation of critical organizational processes as it relates to creating new features for our software platform
  • Identify gaps or imperfect workflows and use them as opportunities to improve and optimize the team’s workflows
  • Work with technical team to create project roadmaps that focus work on the highest priority objectives
  • Develop and manage the product roadmap for Solstice’s digital platform and break it down into achievable steps for our technical teams. Activities will include translating the team’s vision and customer’s needs into user stories, creating tickets, and planning sprints
  • Coordinate internally across departments, including Sales, Marketing, Business Development and Inclusion, to align on high-level priorities, communicate progress/roadblocks, and ensure timely completion of new platform features
  • Lead product demos for prospective clients
  • Develop a deep understanding of client needs, facilitate communication such that clients understand their relative priority and what they can expect

  • Experience or strong interest in clean energy, sustainability and/or social equity
  • 3+ years of product management experience
  • Degree or background in computer science or engineering or equivalent experience preferred
  • Experience with development in PERN stack
  • Experience with Agile Scrum methodologies
  • Strong exposure to user experience design and user research
  • Previous experience at early-stage startups (Series A or earlier) a plus
  • Adept in common project management tools such as Jira, Confluence, Trello, and Slack
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to serve as liaison between technical and non-technical audiences
  • Extraordinary attention to detail, creative, personable, enthusiastic, proactive, team-oriented

As a Product Manager, you will gain:

  • Ownership of a software platform that’s revolutionizing access to clean energy
  • A deep understanding of the solar and renewable energy space, particularly the rapidly growing community solar industry
  • Experience at a fast-growing social enterprise with the potential to create a more just and equitable energy industry

Solstice was founded to advance equity and inclusion in America. We are committed to living those values, not just in the work we do to promote environmental and energy justice, but in how we grow as an organization. We seek always to expand leadership opportunities for marginalized communities in the global transition to clean energy.

Solstice is an equal opportunity employer.
