This team member will lead collaborative efforts to scale-up and optimize Kula Bio’s bioelectrochemical reactor platform. They will translate a benchtop-scale prototype to a 100+ L unit towards our initial commercial product. They will also oversee and manage electrocatalyst testing and development to expand the application range of our bioreactor technology.

Job Duties/Responsibilities: 
  • Lead the scale-up of benchtop bioelectrochemical reactor
  • Oversee development of electrocatalysts for improved performance, longevity, and application range
  • Work collaboratively with Microbiology and Agronomy teams to iteratively inform microbial strain design, reactor design, and application practices
  • Mentor and train junior Reactor Technology team members
  • Consult on field trials and on-site/on-farm operations
  • Participate in strategic planning
  • Assist in IP strategy development
Qualifications: 
  • Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, related discipline, or equivalent industrial experience
  • Industrial experience
  • Expertise in scaling-up microbial bioreactor technologies
  • Expertise in scaling-up electrochemical technologies
  • Experience with microbial processes
  • Experience in electrocatalyst production, testing, development
  • Strong record of technical communication and mentoring skills
