Where would you work?
AdaViv is an innovative agriculture technology company specializing in greenhouse and indoor farming. Adaviv is a fast-growing, Venture-backed spin-off from MIT that is currently based in Greentown Labs (the largest clean-tech accelerator in the world in Somerville, MA). We are building an AI-powered plant care software to keep digital eyes on plants and help growers know what each plant needs to get the most consistent and highest yields. By initially focusing on high value crops like cannabis, we are enabling growers to continually improve the growth of each plant. We’re a small, high-performance team whose domain expertise covers all dimensions of our product, from biology to AI and business. We aspire to help build the future of sustainable agriculture and are looking for similarly inspired and driven individuals to help us in this mission!

What would you be doing?
As a Plant Science Research Intern at Adaviv, you will be working with our Plant Scientist, CEO, COO and advisors to write grant proposals, develop in-house R&D experiments and develop knowledge and data bases around the core concepts of plant health and pathology and integrated pest management as they relate to Adaviv’s state-of-the-art sensing, computer vision, optics and AI technologies.

You’ll have the opportunity to make a big impact for both the company and our customers. We bring both scientific rigor and design-to-value thinking to all dimensions of our product development and R&D to continually improve the value and impact of our products for the customer. Thus, you’ll be able to gain equal experience and exposure to the development of high-risk innovative research and fast-paced design-to-value product development. This is a full-time internship (40 hours/week) for the summer period (late May - September), though there are opportunities to start earlier in a part-time role and/or continue past the summer.

Your ideas and skills will ideally come from a diverse set of experiences across research, industry and self-motivated projects. Clear, descriptive and compelling writing is fundamental to your work and you possess a solid familiarity with experimental design. You also thrive in ambiguity, while demonstrating the ability to help your team raise the bar on customer experiences.
