DMI is a 15-person consulting company specializing in commercial, industrial, and institutional energy conservation.  We are growing our team with junior level engineers.  Candidates should have a BS or MS degree in a related engineering field (mechanical, environmental, chemical) and 1-2 years of work experience, including co-ops and internships.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

Newly hired project engineers will work closely with their project managers, gaining the skills required to complete a wide variety of project types. Training is primarily on-the-job, with new skills being taught by managers and co-workers alike. Growth in terms of the complexity of assignments is expected, and is achieved through a combination of collaboration with other staff and independent work.

Project types vary significantly at DMI. Engineers may become experts in certain areas more quickly than others, but the distribution of project and facility types is not limited to one particular building type or analysis methodology. All engineers are encouraged to branch out and learn new skills and analysis techniques pertaining to areas such as HVAC, refrigeration, industrial process, or controls. This gives each engineer the capability to handle a complete range of project types including eQuest energy modeling, energy efficiency opportunity scoping at existing facilities, technical analysis of individual measures, commissioning, and more.

All project engineers have a BS or MS-level engineering degree, with the majority being mechanical engineers. Well-developed skills in the areas of data collection, detailed analysis, technical writing, and verbal communication are necessary. Applicants that have already passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam are preferred, as it is a mandatory step in the process of becoming a licensed Professional Engineer. As the project engineers gain experience and skills, they will be given the opportunity to advance into project management and principal level roles.

DMI has an open office environment to encourage collaboration and camaraderie amongst the staff. Lunches are provided for regular learning functions in which engineers report on new unique skills they have obtained. Our office is located in Needham, MA, and is convenient to Route 95/128 and the Mass Pike. Local amenities within walking distance include the Needham Junction commuter rail station, the Route 59 bus route, a grocery store, restaurants, and more.

Salary is competitive and based on experience. Benefits include a generous 401k plan, flexible spending account, health, dental and disability insurance, and profit sharing.
