Energy Tariff Experts (ETE) is a specialized consulting firm focused on wholesale and retail electric, natural gas, and water tariffs. We have deep expertise in rate design, retail tariff structures, DER economics, modeling, and end user utility costs. Our services include consulting, modeling, and provision of utility rate related datasets to a variety of companies in the energy sector.
ETE is seeking an analyst to support management and subject matter experts on a variety of projects.

Job Duties/Responsibilities: 

Typical job duties include performing research, data cleaning, analysis, and production of written reports and presentations. Typical projects include building and maintaining datasets of historical utility rates (electric, gas, water and sewer), performing analysis to determine financial viability of energy projects (e.g., solar, storage, chp, etc.), conducting rate optimization and benchmarking studies, supporting regulatory expert witness projects, and researching and reporting on topics at the request of clients.


ETE will consider candidates of various academic backgrounds, but competitive applicants would have the following attributes:

  • 1) Intermediate or better Excel skills and the ability to recognize patterns and extract insights from large datasets
  • 2) The ability to create insightful graphs and visuals based on data
  • 3) Demonstrated ability to write concise and clear reports and give presentations to corporate and institutional decision makers
  • 4) A genuine interest in energy systems and a curiosity to deeply understand how renewable and conventional energy work in practice
  • 5) 1 - 4 years of work experience and an undergraduate degree (science, engineering, economics preferred, but we are open to liberal arts majors with strong writing skills and mathmatical ability). We'd also love to talk to anyone with an energy related Masters degree.
  • 6) The ability to work in downtown Boston approximately 3 days per week (Covid permitting).
