Long Duration Energy Storage Study

Section 80 of Chapter 179 of the Acts of 2022 (“An Act Driving Clean Energy and Offshore Wind”) requires DOER, in consultation with MassCEC, to conduct a study on mid- to long-duration energy storage. To support DOER and MassCEC in fulfilling this legislative requirement, MassCEC issued a Request for Proposals for consultants in December 2022.  The solicitation closed in January 2023 and proposals are currently under review.

The RFP was informed by stakeholder input that MassCEC collected via written comments and office hours meetings during October and November 2022.  The following stakeholders provided input:
