About the company
Imagine an unprecedented material innovation that catalyzes the transition of the wind, transportation, and manufacturing industries toward net-zero emission. At Gencores, we are spearheading this complex yet achievable transition.
We are developing new material chemistry, unique high-throughput additive manufacturing technology, and a smart robotic platform to produce ultra-light and structural metamaterials at scale. Wrapped in fiber-reinforced skins, our outperforming components can replace metal parts and make vehicles and wind turbines drastically lighter and more efficient. Our developments are supported by the largest global climate fund, M.I.T, the U.S. Department of Energy, the National Science Foundation, and the most innovative corporate partners.
About the role:
We are rapidly growing our core team. If you are a mission-driven Mechanical Engineer with experience designing complex mechanical systems and you are excited to drive hardware developments and improvements of our additive manufacturing technology and robotic platform, join Gencores. You will be part of a fast-growing, interdisciplinary team of professionals working closely together to reinvent our industries.
Your essential job responsibilities:
-
Create and improve current designs featuring specific sealing, thermal, material, and tolerance requirements; transition these designs to production.
-
Develop project-specific design packages (B.O.M.s, equipment lists, drawings, models)
-
Develop test plans and analyze the failure of materials, components, sub-systems, and systems; design and implement corrective and preventative solutions to improve reliability
-
Implement design-for-manufacturing, design-for-assembly, design-for-testing and cost-takeout practices
-
Hold design reviews and brainstorming sessions with interdisciplinary team members or customers.
-
Work with machinists, suppliers, contract manufacturers, and logistics to guarantee our robotic systems and extrusion unit are functional in time. Develop specifications for equipment purchased.
Your experience or skills:
These points are here to give you an idea of what we think would be a good fit for the job. They are not hard requirements. If you do not fit them perfectly but feel like you would do the job well, do not hesitate to apply!

Our preferred qualifications:
-
3+ years in Mechanical Engineering Design and Analysis or Machine Design
-
B.Sc., M.Sc., or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering
-
Experience working with contract manufacturers
