SolidEnergy Systems has helped revolutionize energy storage with the introduction of the “anode-free” lithium metal battery, which doubles energy density while operating safely at high temperatures. SolidEnergy received a $40,000 grant through MassCEC’s Catalyst program in 2012. Since then, the company has raised $17 million in funding - most recently through a $12.5 million Series B financing round in January 2016 - hired 25 employees and filed 20 patents. In 2017, the company plans to launch its battery technology in drones, smartphones, and electric cars.
