Solar photovoltaics ("solar PV") convert sunlight into electrical energy. A solar PV system generally consist of an array of solar panels, connected to a building's electrical system and/or the electrical grid.
A solar hot water system uses the sun to heat air or water for a building's space and water heating needs. Solar hot water systems can be used for space heating and/or hot water heating at homes and businesses, thus reducing consumption of electricity, gas, oil, or whatever energy source you currently use to fire your boiler.
