Workforce Development Fellowship

The Workforce Development Fellow will be a part of the team working to develop and implement several new workforce programs, including Pathways Out of Poverty and the 2012 Clean Energy Industry Internship Program. The fellow will conduct research into workforce development models, best practices, metrics and evaluation of programs, and existing programs in other states and present the research to the team in the form of summary reports.

 
 
Job Activities:
  • Participate (with supervisor) in public projects and events representing MassCEC and its workforce development programs across Massachusetts.
  • Attend projects (often with supervisor) such as workforce development program meetings, workshops, and other events as they relate to workforce development in clean energy.
  • Attend events (often with supervisor) such workforce development trainings, employer symposiums, roundtables and conferences relevant to clean energy.
  • Draft project descriptions of newly awarded grants, develop metric/outcome spreadsheets for newly awarded grants, and assist supervisor with project tracking.
  • Conduct research projects relevant to green job workforce development programs in MA and other states.
  • Assist supervisor with draft content for MassCEC website.
  • Observe supervisor interaction with various government officials and clean energy industry representatives.
  • Gain experience and familiarity with various workforce development programs and trends of green job development in MA and other states.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Strong oral and writing skills
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work on numerous deadlines
  • Candidate must be able to travel in the metropolitan Boston area and willing to travel with MassCEC staff to locations outside of Boston, as far as Western Massachusetts.
 
Education: Upper-level undergraduate or graduate student.
 
Supervision: The fellow will work under the supervision of the Workforce Development Director at MassCEC.
