DOE has released a Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) for about $50 million for approximately 21 awards to promote deployment of ground source heat pumps. There are three topic areas under this announcement: technology demonstration projects to overcome market barrier that currently exist for ground source heat pumps; research papers for data gathering and analysis regarding system costs, performance, and installation techniques; and creation of a national certification standard for the ground source heat pump industry. The cost share is at least 25% and preferably 50% for demonstration projects and at least 10% and preferably 20% for research papers. There is no cost share for creation of certification standards. Eligible applicants are institutions of higher education, non-profit and for-profit private entities, State and Local Governments, Indian Tribes, and Tribal Energy Resource Development Organizations or Groups. The application due date is August 6.

There are several actions that applicants must complete prior to submitting an application. These actions can take several days, so applicants are urged to complete the following as soon as possible:
1. Applicants must obtain a DUNS number. If your organization does not have a DUNS number, go to the Dun & Bradstreet (D&B) online registration located at http://fedgov.dnb.com/webform/ to receive a number free of charge or call 1-866-705-5711.

2. Applicants must register with FedConnect to submit their application. FedConnect website: www.fedconnect.net

3. Applicants must register with the CCR. CCR website: http://www.ccr.gov/. The Central Contractor Registration (CCR) collects, validates, stores, and disseminates business information about the Federal Government's trading partners in support of the contract award, grants, and the electronic payment processes.
