DOE has issued a Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) for the Geothermal Technologies Program funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.  This FOA has three topic areas: up to 40 awards of $3-5 million each for validation of innovative exploration technologies to discover geothermal systems and increase reliability of site characterization; up to 20 awards total of up to $1.5 million for demonstration of the economic and technical feasibility of geothermal energy production from low temperature resources, up to $1.5 million for coproduced fuids from gas and oil wells, and up to $5 million for geopressured resources; and up to 5 awards of $1-20 million for development, collection, and maintenance of data for submission to the National Geothermal Data System.  Eligible applicants are  institutions of higher education, non-profit and for-profit private entities, State and Local Governments, Indian tribes, and Tribal Energy Resource Development Organizations or Groups.  The application due date is July 22.
 



There are several actions that applicants must complete prior to submitting an application.  These actions can take several days, so applicants are urged to complete the following as soon as possible:


1. Applicants must obtain a DUNS number. If your organization does not have a DUNS number, go to the Dun & Bradstreet (D&B) online registration located at http://fedgov.dnb.com/webform/ to receive a number free of charge or call 1-866-705-5711.

2. Applicants must register with FedConnect to submit their application. FedConnect website: www.fedconnect.net

3. Applicants must register with the CCR. CCR website: http://www.ccr.gov/. The Central Contractor Registration (CCR) collects, validates, stores, and disseminates business information about the Federal Government's trading partners in support of the contract award, grants, and the electronic payment processes.
