Director of Government Affairs and Associate General Counsel

MassCEC is seeking an experienced attorney with a proven track record on clean energy legislative and regulatory matters to assist with a full range of legislative, regulatory and legal matters. 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead MassCEC’s efforts to monitor and – as appropriate – participate in the development of state and federal energy legislation, regulation and/or policy;
  • Assist MassCEC and the Executive Director in maintaining strong positive relationships with all oversight bodies, including legislative committees and relevant secretariats;
  •  Assist MassCEC program staff in developing and modifying clean energy programs and related documentation, including solicitations, RFPs and award agreements;
  • Oversee public law matters, including compliance with Massachusetts’ Open Meetings Law, Public Records Law and all ethics requirements; and
  • Other tasks and duties as directed.
 
Necessary Qualifications:
  •  Law degree from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association;
  •  Member in good standing with the Massachusetts Bar;
  •  5+ years practicing law, including experience practicing in the public sector;
  •  Significant legislative experience, including drafting and negotiating legislation;
  •  Demonstrated expertise in energy policy matters;
  •  Proven ability to build strong relationships with public sector partners;
  •  Strong existing network of Legislative and Executive branch leaders;
  •  Experience collaborating across teams and divisions; and
  •  Excellent presentation skills.
