Director of Government Affairs and Associate General Counsel

MassCEC is seeking an experienced attorney with a proven track record on clean energy legislative and regulatory matters to assist with a full range of legislative, regulatory and legal matters.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead MassCEC’s efforts to monitor and – as appropriate – participate in the development of state and federal energy legislation, regulation and/or policy;
Assist MassCEC and the Executive Director in maintaining strong positive relationships with all oversight bodies, including legislative committees and relevant secretariats;
Assist MassCEC program staff in developing and modifying clean energy programs and related documentation, including solicitations, RFPs and award agreements;
Oversee public law matters, including compliance with Massachusetts’ Open Meetings Law, Public Records Law and all ethics requirements; and
Other tasks and duties as directed.

Necessary Qualifications:

Law degree from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association;
Member in good standing with the Massachusetts Bar;
5+ years practicing law, including experience practicing in the public sector;
Significant legislative experience, including drafting and negotiating legislation;
Demonstrated expertise in energy policy matters;
Proven ability to build strong relationships with public sector partners;
Strong existing network of Legislative and Executive branch leaders;
Experience collaborating across teams and divisions; and
Excellent presentation skills.
