Development of Algal / Advanced Biofuels Consortia

The U.S. Department of Energy National Energy Technology Laboratory has released a Funding Opportunity Announcement for biofuels research and development.

The Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) for about $85 million for 1 to 2 awards for algal fuels development and 1 award for developing advanced infrastructure compatible with biofuels.  The anticipated period of performance is 3 years. The cost share is 20% but 10% may be considered with appropriate justification. Applicants must be a consortia, or group of individuals or organizations.  Organizations eligible to serve as consortium lead as well as a member include: (1) institutions of higher education; (2) nonprofit and for-profit private entities; (3) State and local governments; (4) Indian Tribes and Tribal Energy Resource Development Organizations or Groups; and (5) DOE/NNSA National Laboratory Contractors.  Foreign participants are eligible as sub-recipients within the  consortium with certain restrictions.
