DOE’s Golden Field Office has released a Funding Opportunity Announcement for $45 million for one award for a large drivetrain testing facility, which will feature an instrumented dynamometer test stand, will enable the wind industry to develop, test and validate large-scale (5 to 15 MW) wind turbine drivetrain systems domestically.  The required cost share is 35%, but 25% will be considered with justification.  The period of performance will be 5 years, but DOE funding must be spent within the first 3 years.  Each application must include organizational participants from a state(s) and university(ies) and a plan for achieving long term sustainable operation and maintenance and funding without future DOE assistance.   The prime applicant must be a State or Local Government, University or non-profit and is restricted to the United States and its Territories.  Potential end users of the facility may not partner due to conflict of interest.  Applicants must submit a Letter of Intent to be eligible to submit a full application.

  • Letter of Intent deadline: July 22.
  • Application deadline:  August 18.
