Commercial Scale Wind

The Commercial Wind program provides funding for development of responsibly sited commercial wind farms. Commercial Wind seeks to reduce the early stage risk by providing funding for site assessments, wind resource assessments, feasibility studies, development activities, and interconnection This program does not provide funding for construction activities.

MassCEC defines Commercial Wind projects as land-based projects that are greater than 2 MW and cannot be net metered. The wind project must have three turbines or more. For projects that do not meet these criteria, please review the Micro Wind or Community-Scale Wind program pages.

Current Funding Opportunities for the Commonwealth Wind Commercial Wind Program

Funding Opportunity	Description	Status
Site Assessment Grant	Fatal Flaw Analysis of a site. This is a requirement for a MassCEC funded Feasibility Study.	Open
Wind Resource Grant	The installation of a meteorological tower to assess the wind resource.	Open
Feasibility Study Grant	Upon finding no fatal flaws, a more in-depth analysis is done. This is a requirement for MassCEC Development funding.	Under Construction
Development Study Grant	Activities that further the project development once feasibility has been determined. This includes acoustic, wetlands, geotechnical, historical, and other studies required for permitting.	Under Construction
Interconnection Study Loan	Analysis, engineering, and design of electrical interconnection.	Under Construction
