We are pleased to announce the Commonwealth Solar Hot Water Commercial Program. Documents for this program, along with the Commonwealth Solar Hot Water Residential Program documents, are now available below.
The Commonwealth Solar Hot Water Programs provide funding through a non-competitive application process for the installation of solar hot water (SHW) projects by professional installers at residential, multi-family and commercial-scale buildings. Systems may supplement any fuel type, but must serve facilities that are located in an electric utility territory that contributes to MassCEC's Renewable Energy Trust Fund, which includes customers served by National Grid, NSTAR, Unitil (Fitchburg Gas and Electric), WMECO or a participating Municipal Light Plant community. MassCEC’s Renewable Energy Trust Fund has reserved $1 million in funds to support the commercial one year pilot program, and $1 million in funds to support the residential one year pilot program. Funds are available until expended.
At this time, MassCEC has received over 40 Pre-Design Study Applications totaling over $350,000 in funding requests and is therefore no longer accepting Pre-Design Study applications.
The Commonwealth Solar Hot Water Commercial Program offers grants through a non-competitive application process for SHW pre-design studies and construction projects at multi-family (5 units or greater), community and commercial-scale buildings.
At this time, MassCEC is pleased to begin accepting pre-design study grant and construction rebate applications. Pre-Design Study Grant applications may request up to $10,000 to help building owners assess the potential benefits of installing a solar hot water system. Construction rebates are calculated based on entity type (public or private), the number of collectors installed and the the SRCC thermal performance rating of the collectors. In addition to the base rebate, you may be eligible to receive additional funding if your system has eligible Massachusetts manufactured components or if your building was affected by the June 1, 2011 tornado in the western part of Massachusetts.
