How do I know if my site has the potential for wind development?

To know if a site has potential for wind development, you must confirm that it has an adequate wind resource.  Commercial Wind initiative projects must have wind speeds of 6.0 m/s or greater at 70m.  Use the Department of Energy Resources (DOER) Wind Screening Tool to see what the wind speed is at your location.

The tool is located at:  http://maps.massgis.state.ma.us/wind/.  You may also use the Commonwealth Wind Evaluation and Screening Tool at: http://cwest.cadmusweb.com/

Can I see a sample of a comprehensive Site Assessment or Feasibility Study?

Below are links to samples of site assessments and feasibility studies.

When should I expect awarded funds to be available for use?

Applicants who are awarded either a Feasibility Study grant or a Development Loan should plan on funds being available to them approximately three to four months after submitting an application. This allows time for internal reviews, external reviews, MassCEC Board approval and agreement execution. Applicants should remember that no awarded funds may be used to reimburse or write down costs incurred prior to the execution of a Grant Agreement or a Development Expense Loan Agreement between MassCEC and the grant recipient.
