Finding a Participating Stove Professional

Though MassCEC cannot recommend specific stove professionals, we recommend that residents check prices offered by at least two stove professionals and ask potential installers some of the following questions:

• Is my old stove eligible to be changed out?
• Can you confirm that the new stove I’m buying will qualify for Commonwealth Woodstove Change-Out Program rebate?
• When would you be able to perform the work?
• Please describe the warranty on the new stove.
• What other information will you provide me so that I can best operate and maintain my stove (wood burning, catalyst replacement, fuel purchasing, etc.)?
• Can you provide references from previous wood stove customers? (Alternatively, consumers may want to read online reviews of retailers.)

The stove professional will likely need to complete a site visit before providing a final price quotation and confirming stove eligibility.
